Question of the Day

WARNING: You may need to have a cup of coffee or two before you read this and/or respond. It's pretty deep.

This stems from a conversation in my Beth Moore class Sunday night. We are currently doing "Living Beyond Yourself," Beth's study on the fruit of the Spirit.

Is your faith in what God is doing or who God is?

Are you hoping in God's doing or God's being?

Do you trust an I DO, or an I AM?

What a good question to get to the heart of matters.

Since my faith tends to waver when God is slow (or what seems slow to me) to answer my prayers--I guess practically speaking my faith is somewhat in what He does.

But I have to say that it's during those times that I lean harder on the Word, particularly on the Biblical accounts of Moses and David and of course, Abraham. So, I am trying to train my heart (renew my mind) to believe in WHO HE IS.

It's a process though. School of Faith 101--I have to keep retaking the course. :)

We have to going to School of Faith 101! The answer has to be Who He Is. We are human - We want what we want when we want it. We want happiness - we want testimonies of happiness. We want happy endings.

Just this morning I was thinking of Shadrack, Meshack and Abindgo - they trusted even if they would die. It didn't matter what Yahway did - it mattered that He was Yahway.

I want testimonies of faithfulness!

Most definitely who God is. . .and because I am confident in who God is, I think I'm able to see more clearly what he is doing in my life. More often I see what he's done--tracing those fingerprints back through times when I didn't understand his plan.

Are you hoping in God's doing or God's being?

God's being--but God being is also God doing--God is a verb--constant compassion, love, patience, wisdom, benevolence, etc.

I AM. . .God is. . .God was. . .God will be--constant, eternal, faithful. Overwhelming.

I love and trust our God because He Is. But I am always excited to see how He works in our lives and where He is leading us.

My faith is in WHO HE IS, but I think it is because of that faith that when I don't see the result I KNOW without doubt He could have provided, I struggle. Maybe my faith is weak? But through it all I can still say, "Blessed be the name..."
