Agree or Disagree?

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

  1. I agree. And isn't persistence one of the tenets of our Christian walk. We must take up that cross DAILY. . .persevere. . .strain. . .reach. . .aim. . .even when we just don't want to any more.

  3. When I was younger I might have thought education, talent, and maybe even your station in life might have been more important than persistence. But now I say persistence and not giving up is more important than anything else....like Rudy the movie.

Both. Depends. Whenever I see the word "nothing" (or never, or always, or some other absolutism) I can't help it, my mind instantly fills up with all kinds of exceptions! ;P

Like, what does it mean to be successful?

Persistence might be the motor for the talent, or the genius, but I don't know if it goes anywhere on its own, without direction, without some educated or inspired focus.

Certainly makes me think though :)

May the most persistent man (or woman) succeed.

  5. I believe and I have faith therefore I am motivated to be persistent. Persistent: refusing to give up or let go. My favorite definition: ENDURING

As a girl said on 20/20 last night. "We are all born as equals but we all aren't born into the same circumstance." That's where persistance and endurance really, really step in.
