Language Lesson

'Across' is a word.

'Crossed' is a word.

'Acrossed' or 'acrosst' are not words (since it isn't actually a word, I don't know how to spell it).

That is all.

  2. Well, yuh know. . .ya'll do sometimes have to go acrosst the crik to get an edjumucashun, but I axed, and supposably they's buildin' a bridge, so's that'll help.

(Said TOTALLY tongue in cheek as my mother tried relentlessly to break some of Daddy's colloquial language issues.)

I don't think I'm familiar with that non-word, will you use "acrossed" in a sentence?

  4. Another favorite: "loosing" for "losing."

  5. Nathaniel, this is regularly heard at my gym from a VERY well-educated woman that is an instructor: "Pull your arm acrosst". I think she uses it in place of 'across'. I don't know -- it just BUGS me!
